I am a proud owner of a Logitech MX Revolution for over 8 years now. It’s a great device but as any other mouse, it requires maintenance.

The Problem

Having not used the device for a few months I picked it up again only to experience a lot of jittering with it. It moved erratically and I thought that there was potentially a hardware issue.

I did some troubleshooting and plugged in another generic mouse and compared tracking.

The Solution

Clean your sensor.

On the MX Revolution my sensor looked completely fine and not too dirty but after getting a small tissue with a dab of soapy water and cleaning then drying my sensor; I found a huge bit of dirt hidden within.

My mouse immediately started tracking as it should.
