Reset your Password

As you know, in order to regain access to PSN, the user is required to rest his or her password – Sony has self-exploited that requirement and upon discovering the exploit they had taken down the PSN password reset page.

The exploit effectively allowed anyone to reset your password (so long as you hadn’t already done so) with the use of only your email address and date of birth. By doing so they gain access to your account and also lock you out.

Sony had issued the following statement:

“We temporarily took down the PSN and Qriocity password reset page. Contrary to some reports, there was no hack involved. In the process of resetting of passwords there was a URL exploit that we have subsequently fixed.

Consumers who haven’t reset their passwords for PSN are still encouraged to do so directly on their PS3. Otherwise, they can continue to do so via the website as soon as we bring that site back up.”
